High W winds and drifting snow were prominent from the trailhead at Timberline. Poor visibility limited upper elevation observations.
Snowpack
We went out searching for weak snow assocated with the 12/30 interface. In this area, we did not observe any concerning weak snow adjacent to the 12/30 crust, but we only traveled below 6500 ft due to high winds and poor visibility. On another note, we did observe a new crust that extends to 6500 ft from yesterday's (1/4) warm-up. This crust sat under 1-2 inches of new snow and was breakable under ski.
High winds productively drifted new snow, but we generally found wind slabs to be on the stubborn side. We did observe some isolated shooting cracks in fresh drifted snow, but ski cuts across small test slopes failed to produce notable results.
