Quick report
We toured up Camp Creek with the goal of skiing several different aspects to see how the new snow was bonding to the surface below. Skinning up we had no obvious cracking or collapsing, but we did notice a few isolated pockets of wind affected snow at the top of the ridge. None of these formed enough of a slab to be a worry where we were traveling. Overall, we observed a supportive crust on S, SW, and SE aspects. The best skiing was found on S facing aspects. Given the general stability of the snowpack on this low angle terrain and the lack of a significant slab we felt safe with our route choices. We took a depth measurement on an SE facing slope at 8880’ where we found an 85cm deep snowpack and roughly 20cm of new snow. Brush, branches, and rocks were still showing in spots on this slope. Weather was around 23°F with skies varying from scattered to overcast. There were light winds and periods of moderate snowfall in the morning and early afternoon.
