Blewett Pass-Table Mtn south to Nealy Crk

We found 3-5" of new snow on the pass. Below 4,500ft the recent snow became moist. A thin crust from 1/24 could be detected up to about 5,500ft. Above 5,000ft it felt much cooler and more wintry. The riding was still quite good in sheltered terrain above 5,000ft. 

Weak structure prevails, and was more notable in areas of shallower snowpack. We got one large collapse at 5,800ft in a lightly wind affected area. The solstice crust held sharp faceted grains above it in this location. We could easily find this crust just 1.5-2.5ft down on a variety of slope aspects on sheltered slopes. The 1/16 layer is also a weak interface with faceted grains to keep in mind moving forward. 

We noticed one large collapse while digging a pit. It was about 20ft around on a slightly wind affected, low angle SSE aspect at 5,800ft.

On Table Mtn's lower angled slopes, the snowpack felt more settled and more supportable than when we were out there on Monday. On the higher, somewhat wind exposed slopes I couldn't break through to the Solstice crust layers with my foot even after stomping. Lower down, out of wind affected areas we could still break through to the crust pretty easily, and it felt more hollow underfoot. 

On a low angle SSE aspect at 5,800ft HS was 80cm. The 1/16 layer was small faceted grains and down 30cm. The Solstice crust was down 50cm with 2-3mm faceted grains above, and faceted grains sandwiched with another crust and old melt forms below. Test results were: CTV (broke upon isolation) down 50cm, and PST 20/100 (End) down 50cm.
