Quick report

Cracking
isolated

“Are you worried that early season approaches via trail and sled are making you soft? Have you forgotten what’s actually lurking (or decidedly not lurking) between 4k ft and 5k ft? The Tunnel Creek Boosh Rehab program may be just what you need. It’s immersive, intensive, and allows you to dive head-first (literally) into a potent, persistent vegetative state consisting of old-growth alder, winter devil’s club (an acquired taste), and densely packed conifers. As a bonus: your jibbing skills will improve after approaching across a variety of downed trees while in walk mode. We’re so confident in our program that we have a guarantee: if you reemerge, you’ll never take a nice road for granted (at least until May).” We headed to Grant Ridge hoping to ski some longer paths without wind effect. This was complicated by our enlistment in the above rehab program. Instead, we made some laps up high on S aspects. Wind effect was most noticeable on the ridgetop, where we saw isolated cracking (not more than 2-3ft long, and only in top 3-4” of snow). On our exit, we saw some sloughing, but it wasn’t running much. We also experienced perhaps ten minutes of light winds. Skies were overcast; temps were below freezing.
