Teton Pass, Mail Cabin

Warm day on the pass.  Snowing all day, s-1 to s1, very little wind. No cracking or collapsing observed. A few inches of new snow, skiing was creamy. A 2-3 cm crust exists under new snow on southerlies from the recent warm weather. 

We dug at 8600 feet on a NE aspect. Snow height was  51 inches (130cm), fist down to 4 finger hardness in the top 25 inches (65 cm). This is all sitting on a 8 inch (20cm) layer of fist facets that are rounding and contain some moisture when balled up.  Two ECTN scores  at  9 and 13 taps in the top 25 inches but no propagation. 

All the facets observed in the snowack  were less than 2mm and had some rounding.  

Keep an eye out for cracking and collapsing tomorrow if snow continues to stack up, especially if you venture into any wind affected snow. It's worthwhile to dig and investigate right now as our weak layers seem to be spatially variable.
