Snowpack

Near and above treeline, wet loose activity has remained limited to the most recent snow (the top 10 to 25 cm), and the potential size is dictated by terrain size.  At lower elevations on the sunny half of the compass, the snowpack is becoming isothermal/unsupportive and a wet loose could entrain significantly more snow.  Snow surfaces are just starting to get wet on shady aspects.  The window for good corn on W/SW was around 1 p.m. today, deteriorating towards wet loose afterward.  . This afternoon, it was easy to trigger rollerballs and wet loose avalanches in the upper snowpack. There were ongoing natural wet loose avalanches.

Avalanche

Investigated a very large skier triggered avalanche (reported in separate ob), which started as a small wet slab on a SE aspect and triggered a mostly dry persistent slab on an E to NE aspect of the Spork. See photos and video. One of the Climax Chutes ran midday, drone flight suggested this was a mostly dry slab with some surface wetting. Frequent wet loose activity continued, expanding to northeast aspects.
