Quick report

We triggered a small, wet loose avalanche that involved wet/moist snow at the surface but did not gouge any deeper. Middle elevation snow coverage has diminished fairly dramatically in the last week.

One ski-triggered, small wet loose.

Mostly cloudy with some breaks of sunshine. There appeared to be some squalls in the Sawtooths and White Clouds. A light breeze from the SW and WSW. Steamy, hot day.

Snowpack

All snow surfaces were heavily weathered and beaten by heat and spring sun. Despite a weak freeze, skiing was supportable throughout our tour. We exited the field at ~2:00 PM. As we exited, we were able to push about 20 cm of moist/wet snow that started moving on a steep north face.

Avalanche

Lots of wet loose avalanche activity that's hard to date. I triggered one very small wet loose on a north-facing slope at 9,400'. It involved the top 20 cm of moist/wet snow and slid atop firmer snow below.
