Quick report
Hiked up to the bowl on 5-1-2023 after the big rain event had stopped and visibility looked good from Pinkham notch. All bridges were still intact on the TRT however the trail itself until about crossover 7 and bridge #3 was very undermined due to washout underneath the packed trail. Post-holing on the many water bars was common, so heads up for that. Upon arriving to connection cache I was able to find a safe spot just up trail some few yards to get eyes. It was obvious that the water was flowing as 2 days prior the big waterfall lookers left of lip was not flowing very strong at all. Minimal ice had fell as far as I could tell given what was on the floor below center. Once I had zoomed in more with my camera at lip I quickly realized that there were signs of undermined snow that were new and that I wouldn’t feel comfortable traveling anywhere near or below there. There are new holes that had opened up and are now running water. Pressure cracks from the force of water and air being stuck under the snowpack and pushing it outwards and just snowpack loss in general on the lip specifically where water is running underneath.
