High winds coming from the southwest over the ridge top.
Avalanche
Two riders descending a logging cut slope the 2nd rider triggered a small slide on a northeast aspect at an elevation of approximately 4700’. Wind had transported snow onto this slope creating a wind slab as we generally observed the northwest aspects today having a significantly deeper snowpack in this area. Slide was 30ft wide with a crown of about 1 foot. It ran approximately 100ft coming to a stop on a logging road. Although this slide was small it picked up a fair amount of speed and had someone been on the road where it ran out it appeared it could have partially buried a sled and rider. Also of note the slope angle was estimated to be 29-32 degrees.
