Teton Pass South

Obvious signs of wind affect all around from the Thanksgiving storm. Most of the terrain I traveled in was fairly sheltered, but it's very apparent that  wind scour/deposition was strong. High confidence that there are wind slabs lurking off ridgelines and in open/exposed terrain, especially at/above treeline. No natural avalanche activity glassing south towards the Snake River Range. Easterly aspects are scoured and westerly aspects contain nice unconsolidated snow. Dug numerous snowpits, bottom line is there is weak structure with a mix of facet crust combinations (see snowpack section). The key ingredient is finding an area where new snow has formed a firm, cohesive slab (wind loaded slopes and mainly westerly aspects). South side of Glory is significantly scoured with very thin coverage. 

Found weak snowpack structure on E, N, and W aspects. A combination of crusts surrounded by weak facets buried 6-12 inches on these aspects is concerning (see snowpit profiles). Most locations lacked a firm cohesive slab to allow for propagation. However, one wind loaded west aspect with a ~4F hard slab did propagate (ECTP11) on weak 2mm facets between the two crusts. (*note the upper crust in the snow profiles is a rain crust).
