Quick report

Cracking
isolated

While touring the north side of Brown Mt. late Tuesday morning, signs of storm slab were observed. Roughly 90cm of high density new storm snow sitting on the old snow interface. Some small shooting cracks were observed at two convexities rolling into 30+ degree terrain. A quick transition on a short 27 degree slope around 6,000’ was enough to convince us that the amount of water in the fresh storm snow was great enough to make bagging turns a daunting chore and we skied the skin track back to Highway 140 sinking well past our knees and coming to a quick halt any time we attempted to make a turn out of the track. Some cracking observed but slabs seemed resistant to move.
