Quick report

Tracking the December drought interface in the northern Snake and southern Tetons. Dug on a NE facing slope at 9,000’. Here, basal facets are buried 100cm (3.3ft) beneath a 1F to P hard slab. Propagation Saw Test (PST) results indicated low propagation potential (PST 65/100 END). The saw cut was greater than 50% of the column length when the crack propagated. It also did not propagate along the same layer it initiated in. Instead, it traveled irregularly through the lower facet layers to the end of the column. These results support the dormant nature of this weak layer for the time being.
