Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Throughout our travels we observed moderate avalanche hazard, isolated pockets of wind slab on northerly aspects but generally variable snow conditions. Visually observing southerly aspects it was clear they had been loaded in a big way by the winds, large pillowy slopes with cornices looming above screams avalanche problem. Was interesting to see some of the terrain and group management by folks over the last two days, lots of multi group exposure on a day with still relatively heightened avalanche danger. Beacon, probe, shovel, and conscious route finding along with terrain management are still very much a necessity at the moment. It’s not quite open season yet… Through the day corners of kick turns would crack and fail. Did not note long shooting cracks in front of skis, isolated due to the nature of the variable snowpack.
