Quick report
With the continued cold temperatures, I was curious to see if the large stellar dendrites from Sunday had begun the near surface faceting process. This is the best example that I found. Photographed today 12/31/19 in the Ogden Mountains near 5600’ elevation.
The red lines roughly delineate the boundary between the original snowflake (snow crystal) shape when it fell, and the new facet growth that has occurred over the past couple of days.
