Quick report
Snow on the approach and west shoulder of Sunburst showed textured wind effect, but the snow remained soft and skied consistently above 2200 ft. A few hand shears on loaded features around 2600-3000 ft revealed about an 8 inch fist-hard slab that released with force but no buried surface hoar was found in these quick pits. No cracking or whumphing was observed. Skied a few low angle laps on the shoulder before poking further back on the ridge. Soft snow was found on all aspects except for the bottom ~100 ft of Sunburst's west face, where the snow had likely been scoured by Taylor Pass winds. Plenty of flagging was observed on ridgelines. Cornices are very large.
