Quick report
Toured up SE ridge of Mt. Bailey on 4/6/24. A dusting of snow the night prior resulted in 0.5 - 3 inches on top of a crust layer depending on aspect relative to wind. Found evidence of a wind slab about 6 inches in depth. Found during a hand shear test at about 7700' on SE aspect. Hand end of trekking pole couldn't be submerged below the hard layer at 6 inches deep. Small wind slab also produced while walking around the south facing false summit above the crater (8140'), see photo, and produced again at the same location while starting to ride the splitboard. Rode the SE ridge sticking to <30 degrees and did not see any other signs of avalanche.
