- <p>In many areas, if not all, there is no slab over our very weak and faceted snowpack. Therefore, the avalanche danger at the moment is LOW as we lack that slab. I would be cautious in any area that has seen wind loading. It wouldn't take much to whip up a shallow, soft, or hard slab that easily fails on the super fragile snow below. I think this will be a very isolated avalanche and likely not large enough to bury you. </p> <p> </p>
Anywhere the snow is soft, it's weak and faceted. In many areas, your pole will now sink right to the ground as the snow becomes increasingly unsupportable.
