Quick report

Beautiful day in the backcountry today with 6-12 inches of new snow making great riding conditions. Moderate winds and overcast/fog gave way to broken clouds and light winds. We did a beacon drill in Sun Valley Slide and in the process got this quick snow profile. No stability tests were performed today. No obvious signs of instability noted on our tour, however recent skiier and explosive triggered wind and storm slabs reported by PCSP and other party. PWL from Dec dry spell is getting buried progressively deeper, facets appear to be rounding and are approx 0.5-1mm.

Avalanche

PCSP Released Storm Slabs above Stacy's today with explosives, another party reported releasing small pockets of wind slab on steeper NE terrain near Sweetheart (Pebble Creek Backside, approx 8600ft NE) that ran approx 20-40 ft, approx 6 inch crown. Nobody caught or buried.
