Quick report
Booted up the Bass Creek Trail about 3/4s of a mile before reaching consistent snow and starting to skin. The snowbridge to get to the south side of the creek is melted out so we did some wading. Then traversed up and into the Lappi area. Found pretty slow travel conditions, generally 1 to 4" of new powder on a solid spring base that was variably refrozen depending on elevation and aspect. Where it was fully refrozen, ski crampons were crucial. Also faced a lot of glopping with the fresh powder as it warmed. Snow conditions seemed stable to us, other than some dry loose sluffing on steeper slopes, but as soon as it warms back up, the new snow is going to start loose wetting. Our day turned out cloudy and cool with intermittent light snowfall, but around 2pm the new powder was starting to heat up, especially on lower slopes, and we got out of there as it was starting to get sticky. Skied with courage back to within half a mile of the trailhead, but that's not going to last long. Condition note - Pinball is still well-filled in to the creek, though there's a fair amount of avy debris in the middle of the line.
Avalanche
Saw a lot of loose wet and glide debris on today's tour, including a big pile of debris in Pinball Wizard and along the approach from Bass Creek up to Lappi Lake. Also saw a lot of recent glide avalanche debris and widening glide cracks on NE facing slopes (both above and below the lake).
