Elevation ~ 7375 ft. E NE aspect on a slope of ~28 degrees. The temperature was -5 Celsius. The pit was located in a moderately open glade. Depth of ECT pit was 57 cm. 57 cm to 40 cm was Fist. 40 cm to 36 cm was 1F 36 cm to 23cm was 4F 23 cm to ground was Fist ECTN @ 23 at the top interface of the the 1F layer (40 cm) ECTN @ 24 at the bottom interface of the 1F layer (36 cm) An interesting note is that the 4 cm 1F layer was very open and porous, yet hard ice. This layer reacted quickly to temperature change, I think due to the open structure of the ice crystallization. It was a beautiful day up there, not enough snow to skin up until the trailhead if you hate your gear - most people would probably find sufficient snow to skin @ ~6500 ft.
