Quick report
We dug a pit near the edge of the previously reported suspected skier triggered avalanche on the east side of point 6. The avalanche appeared to be a mix of several wind slabs and a cornice fall. The cornice chunks made the avalanche debris appear more substantial than it was. My ski cut above the cornice did not release any wind slab. Our pit was off to the north a few tens of feet in a sheltered and wind deposited area. We did not see any propagation: Total depth 170 cm. We cut the ECT column deeper than the stout rain crust with facets at 100 cm from the surface. ECTN12 30 cm (last weekends new snow) The 100 cm deep crust had a 2 cm facet band underneath it but did not have obvious facets above. The column broke stubbornly at the crust with a bit of prying after the ECT was done. East and north retained some winter like snow quality but overall the snow could use a refresh.
