Quick report

Collapsing
isolated

We had a quiet day in the mountains not seeing a soul till we got to Lanham Lake on our exit. The snow surface in Lanham lake was moist but not wet. Steep solar aspects up to 6000’ were wet and had some pin wheels. Polar aspects remained cold. There is impressive wind effect in and out of the trees at middle elevations with some impressive cornice formation in the runout under Jim Hill. We did experience some isolated collapsing of these wind features. We dug a pit near 5800’ on a N aspect and found an impressive layer of buried surface hoar above the 2/7 crust. Finally the tree skiing was quite pleasant with now that the drip crust is buried. Hopefully we will not develop much of a new one since the wind did such a great job clearing the trees.
