Quick report

An overnight trip through Desolation revealed May-like conditions. The snowpack in the Glen Alpine drainage was thin and difficult to find continuous skinnable snow. Many open creeks and thawing lakes make for challenging travel. The previous rain event has left rain runnels to the highest elevations and expedited the transition to a spring snowpack. Despite calm winds and very warm temperatures we didn’t observe any new wet loose activity, travel at upper elevations was soft and pleasant with East and South providing ideal corn conditions. There was evidence of many glide cracks and glide avalanches as well as several very large wet slabs that likely slid during the rain event.
