Quick report
Went to hopefully ski cold faceted snow on northerly aspects. Succeeded in doing so, but everywhere else the snow was getting quite moist. Spotty surface hoar remains in sheltered northerlies. Wet loose starting to pop off in PM. Temp at car at 7000’ at 0930 was 13F — by 1530 it was 50F. Numerous small D1 wet loose avalanches observed on drive back to Big Sky on S-SW-W aspects below 8,000’.

Clear, blazing sun. Cold in AM, quickly warming to tropical. Calm wind in AM became light from W in PM as high cirrus started to appear.
Snowpack
Snow surface in AM was widespread SH up to 6mm at all elevations. This burned off in PM, except in sheltered N-NE aspects where SH remains. Upper snowpack is faceted with previous degrading crusts creating some crunchy ski texture. By PM the upper 30cm of the snowpack was moist facets in all elevations and aspects except for steeper N-NE aspects above 8,000 where the snow stayed fairly cold and dry. The snow below 7,500’ was especially wet and sticky, still with some cohesion on E-N, losing cohesion and rollerballing on S-W. HS throughout the zone 80-120cm.
Avalanche
Numerous small D1 wet loose avalanches observed on drive back to Big Sky on S-SW-W aspects below 8,000’.
