-
Not enough new snow to cause a problem where we were today. Some soft wind slabs were forming in exposed upper-elevation terrain.

Our tracks were rapidly filled in by drifting snow. Even though there wasn't very much new snow, a few inches improved the conditions and re-painted the scenery white.
Snowpack
- Instability Comment
-
The fresh snow is light and easily transported by moderate winds.

This is widespread at the interface of today's new snow and the old December surface... It consists of faceted grains and in many areas, surface hoar. There was not enough new snow to create a cohesive slab yet.

Nice shallow powder conditions where we could find soft and untracked snow under the fresh powder.
