Quick report
There is 10 to 15 cm (3-5 inches) of soft snow sitting on fast supportable crusts in the final exam area. The open areas to south and east have more wind effected snow with various crusts and variable snow depths. Better coverage exists to the north and west (closer to ski area). No collapsing or cracking in the snowpack observed. We dug in a sheltered area at 9365' on a north aspect. The fresh snow and two distinct MF crusts sit above 30 cm (12 inches) of 1F hard rounded grains above 20 cm (7 inches) of F+ hard basal facets.

It was a clear and cold day with light to moderate NW winds.
Snowpack
Recent snow has fallen on two distinct melt crust from Dec 24-25th and Dec 19th warming events. These crusts are supportable for both boots and skis. Wind events post-Christmas (Dec 26th and 27th) have scoured ridgelines and open area down to dirt and these MF crusts. More sheltered areas hold a generally stable snowpack with an average 65 cm (26 inches) depth.
