Quick report

Red Flags
Heavy Snowfall, Wind Loading, Cracking

I got up high today and found several inches of new snow overnight with storm totals settling around 45cm or 18 inches. The mid-day snowpack had very little wind effect on it. Minor natural sluffing in steep terrain and no soft slab avalanches to report. The snow was mostly solid today. I was able to get a 4 inch skin to propagate 20 feet wide then run out 400 feet vertical on a mid-storm density inversion however it was a slow runner. On my way back to my sled, I skied ENE and found some propagation on top of our near surface facets that formed during our high and dry cycle. On my way out I took some pics of our epic sized cornices and then on top the southernly wind was having it’s way with all the dry snow and that continued down low until after the sun went down and continues now as I write this. The entrances to north facing slopes will be loaded tomorrow.
