Today was a good reminder of how quickly wind can destabilize fresh snow. 

We experienced rapidly changing conditions in a short period as sensitive and fresh wind slabs formed in the middle and upper elevations. Several small avalanches were triggered 4-10" deep on convex rollovers or steep micro-features. None of these avalanches were triggered on large sustained slopes. Strong and gusty westerly wind (JHMR Summit averaged 25-30 mph gusts to 40mph) between 09:00-15:00 (under-forecasted). This created widespread wind erosion and deposition of low density snow from the last 48 hours. Snow transport was impressive as peak instabiity occured during the wind event. Recent snow was setting up quickly into dense upside-down slab character or wind scour and light satrugi. Numerous other D1-1.5 storm/wind slab avalanches were seen on Wimpy's, Static, and the terrain to the south that occured yesterday.
