Snow Surface: In sheltered area, ~3" of soft snow over a firmer base. Large spatial variability in any location exposed to winds, but this didn't include much soft snow; stout wind slabs on terrain features facing slightly west, and exposed tundra on north to east aspects. Snowpack: Ski pole probing in sheltered, treed locations revealed 2' of snow over a very soft, thick layer of facets/depth hoar above the ground. Probing lookers left of the 1/17 avalanche on low angled terrain (25 degrees or less) revealed a 140-250cm thick stout wind slab over a very soft 30cm layer on the ground; we dug a pit in a shallow spot approximately 30' east of the debris. World-class whumphs whenever stepping off established trails, occasionally shaking nearby trees and with a notable drop of the snow surface. Occasional short cracks associated with these collapses, but largely the red flag was just audible today. We visited the 1/17 remote triggered avalanche that was reported on that day, see details below! Small debris piles also present below steep rolls on blueberry hill - timing unknown - with crowns filled in from weekend winds. Some potential filled in small crowns across the powerline valley on Little O'Malley/False Peak but nothing close to the size of that 1/17 remote triggered slide.
