Headed up goat peak to find some dad pow turns Found no snow at the trailhead with rain Put skins on at 3900' Found a connected snowpack at 4200' on S facing; we could see more snow on all other aspects. The snowpack quickly added depth as we gained elevation. We did not see any obvious signs of instability, and the winds were light all day, with no active transport observed. We dug a pit at 6000' on an S-facing slope and found an HS of 195cm. The top of the snowpack consisted of 45cm of storm snow F hard transitioning to 4F hard evenly. There were crust facet combos at 100cm and 70cm, but the crusts were decomposing, and the facets were rounding out nicely. We got ECT-N with light and moderate force in the storm snow and ECT-N with hard force on the crust at 100cm. It snowed S-1 until around 1 pm and picked up to S-2 to S-3.
