Quick report
We made our way up the Boulder ridge to the Goddess couloir, wearing tennies until School Point. A solid refreeze accompanied by the clear morning had cruising up corned up crust to the lookout on Boulder Point. There was a light breeze was present all day that kept the snow from getting too wet. The clear day allowed us a good look around the Southern Bitterroot; many ridge-lines have enormous cornices waiting to fall, and many aspects showed signs from the heat up last week (chunky, sometimes runneled snow surfaces covered by 4 inches of new snow). The Goddess also presented these characteristics, and we were offered a smorgasbord of skiing conditions; some pow (about 4" of fresh) on crust, chunky refrozen wet debris disguised by the new snow, heinous combat skiing down refrozen wet slide debris, and finally some smooth corny pow out the bottom to the creek. Boulder creek is sitting fat snow-coverage wise, one can still almost ski all the way to the TH.
