Snowpack
Above treeline (ATL), the slopes have continuous snow coverage approximately one meter deep on shaded aspects. The snow depth decreases significantly on sunny slopes and as you move to lower elevations. The Burns master stake below treeline (BTL) shows a snow depth of 19 inches, while the White Lizard stake near the summit of Lizard Head Pass measures 37 inches. The Ophir master stake has 15 inches of snow. In the area above CR 630, between the highway and the town of Ophir, south-facing paths are gaining snow volume ATL, but they remain thin in the aprons. In contrast, north-facing paths in this area have a much greater snow volume from top to bottom.
