Too good to pass up on yesterday's skin track •Mostly cloudy skies, with brief spurts of filtered sunshine, and light snowfall. (24hr new snow 2-3", measured on yesterday afternoon's up track) • Light west winds with sporadic moderate gusting. Ridgetop trees holding on to recent snowfall, but yesterday skin track was drifted in above 6700'. • Dug one pit on a NE facing slope at ~6200'. HS 223cm. ECTX. Admittedly suboptimal pit site located directly on ridge top. This site was chosen out of convenience and aspect of interest. Was a relatively sheltered portion of the ridge, so hopefully somewhat representative of similar mid slope locations. • We chose to keep things pretty mellow. We avoided consequential terrain and leeward slopes/aspects. Enjoyed three laps on phenomenal powder snow with good friends. Doesn't get much better than that. "That's what's up". No signs of instabilities in the mountains. Still hearing/feeling some collapsing on the canyon floor today.
