Quick report
Snowfall totaled ~8” at the parking lot and 4–6” at higher elevations. Beneath the new snow, the surface consisted of either previously bare ground or old, faceted wind slab over a faceted base of the snowpack. Snow surfaces along ridgelines began to show wind effects as winds increased late in the field day. The base showed early signs of rounding and bonding from last week’s above-freezing temperatures; however, given the advanced state of the facets and depth hoar prior to the warming event, the basal snowpack remains weak. Two snowpits produced propagation on basal facets and depth hoar (ECTP20 and ECTP30).
