Calm. Minor, but a bit of a freezing fog or mist in the air.
Snowpack
Surface crust was dense below ~1200 feet. It became more brittle as we climbed and open areas out of the trees, the brittle crust had faceted into recycled powder.Observed 3-6mm surface hoar.
Facets were found above and below most of the crusts within the top couple feet of the snowpack. Most reactive was down 37 cm on a mix of 2-4mm decomposing/fragmented particles and 2mm faceted crystals- CT17, ECT21, and PST Arr 30/100.
Found hollow windslabs on S, SE terrain in open areas above 1500 feet. Also saw visual clues of previous wind effect. Soft faceted surface snow is available for wind transport.
