Quick report

Sky; overcast, light snow, wind; light variable, temp; 25, aspect; 060, elevation; 5700, HS; 145 cm, ski penetration 12cm. We put in a pit ,shovel shear revealed several weak layers in the last round of snow, planer failures. Column test found same weakness in the upper 24cm. This area is difficult to get a representative sample because of wind effects, within 30 m of this site there were rocks exposed. At various times on the skin track there was evidence of weak bonding between the new and older snow. Limited visibility hampered broader terrain evaluation. Snow conditions at 4500 were much warmer, with roller ball formation on steeper south aspects.
