Quick report

We did not observe any signs of instability on the ascent, so we chose a steeper descent on the north aspect of Trestle. We triggered multiple small slides and one larger avalanche on our descent. They appeared to be wet loose

Avalanche

We did not observe any cracking, collapsing, roller balls, or any signs of storm slab or wet loose instability on the ascent. The snowpack appeared to be quite stable. But once we dropped in for the descent, we immediately triggered several small wet loose slides, then triggered a larger slide down toward the bottom of Trestle. All the slides were moving quite slowly and appeared to be wet loose, but it was unlike anything I’ve seen before. Normally when I’ve observed wet loose slides, there are warning signs of really hot and sticky snow, roller balls, etc. It seemed like the entire storm slab heated up extremely fast and became wet loose at the exact time we started our descent around 10am.
