Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Light rain overnight on strong Southerly winds. During the day winds will be South-Westerly, rain will turn to occasional light snowfall above 1000 metres as the freezing level falls to summit levels during the afternoon. Observed Weather Influences: A dry cloudy day with occasional sunny spells and strong Southerly winds. Summit temperatures were plus 4 degrees C at midday. ObservedSnowStability: The stable snowpack continues to thaw at all altitudes. Patchy snow fields remain on most aspects above 1000 metres. The most widespread accumulations are around coire back walls and high plateau areas. The avalanche hazard is Low.

Forecast Snow Stability: There will be a dusting of new snow above 1000 metres. As it turns cooler the old snowpack will become firm and remain well bonded and stable at all altitudes. The most widespread accumulations will be above 1000 metres around coire back walls and high plateau areas. The avalanche hazard will be Low.
