Avalanche Activity

The large quantity of fresh snow as well as the wind slabs represent the main danger.

New snow and wind slabs require caution. The fresh snow as well as the wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack. In all aspects and on steep slopes medium-sized to large natural avalanches are possible as a consequence of the snowfall. New snow and wind slabs can to an increasing extent be released, even by a single winter sport participant. Stability tests confirm a precarious avalanche situation.

Snowpack Structure

In some localities up to 60 cm of snow, and even more in some localities, fell in the last two days. The new snow and wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence in all aspects. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls in all aspects.
