    • Above 1,800 m

Avalanche Activity

The wind slabs represent the main danger. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the icy crust.

The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads, in all aspects above approximately 1800 m. Mostly the avalanches are small. At transitions from a shallow to a deep snowpack, when entering gullies and bowls for example the likelihood of avalanches being released is greater. In many places there is a danger of falling on the icy crust.

Snowpack Structure

In some places wind slabs are lying on an icy crust. In addition small wind slabs formed in all aspects. Individual weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in particular on shady slopes.

Tendency

Wind and new snow.
