Low avalanche danger. Poor snow layering on the north side!

The avalanche danger is low. In the extremely steep north-facing gullies at high altitudes, the possibility of a snow slab being triggered cannot be ruled out.

On the north side, the kinetic metamorphism weakens the snow base, fundament. Angular shapes or cup crystals form weak layers. If an avalanche is triggered in the northern sector, the snow cover, snowpack tears through to the ground.

The clouds from the weak disturbance will move eastwards in the evening and the night will often be clear. Friday will bring mainly sunny weather over the Styrian mountains, with only harmless clouds passing through in high layers. Any fog or high fog patches will dissipate in many places, only along the peripheral mountains could persistent high fog accumulate, but at least at altitudes above 600 to 900 metres, sunshine will once again predominate. The temperature at an altitude of 1500 metres will be between -1 and 2 degrees. The temperature at an altitude of 1000 metres will be between 0 and 3 degrees. There will be moderate winds with gusts of around 30 km/h from the south to north-west. The snowfall level will be between the valleys and around 1500 metres above sea level. No new fallen snow is expected.

The avalanche danger remains low. At the weekend, the high fog layer south of the Niedere Tauern and Hochschwab will become thicker, and at least occasionally the mountain ranges will be covered in fog up to an altitude of 1500 metres.
