Avalanche Activity

Increase in avalanche danger as a consequence of new snow and strong wind. This applies in particular in the regions exposed to heavier precipitation. Without question, it is inadvisable to engage in backcountry touring.

The large quantity of fresh snow as well as the often deep wind slabs represent the main danger. In particular adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls large and very large avalanches are possible as a consequence of the precipitation. The new snow and wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in all aspects. A lot of rain will fall in some localities.

Snowpack Structure

As a consequence of snowfall and the strong southwesterly wind, fresh snow drift accumulations will form. The large quantity of fresh snow as well as the wind slabs that are forming in all aspects are bonding poorly with the old snowpack.

Tendency

The weather will be cloudy over a wide area.
