In sintesi

Continuing snowfall overnight and into Monday means that Wind Slab avalanches will be possible on Monday.  Be wary of slopes at and above treeline that face North and East and are 35 degrees or steeper.  Enjoy the new snow and beautiful winter weather!

    Test slopes on Sunday produced shallow Wind Slab avalanches.  While the larger Wind Slabs forecasted for today won't necessarily remain a problem into Monday, continued snowfall means that we could still see fresh Wind Slab avalanches.  Identify features of concern, namely steep start zones at and above treeline that face East or North.  It is worth noting that the winds will be more southerly than usual, so anticipate unusual loading patterns on North facing slopes and features.  Take the time to watch where the wind is blowing the snow.

I found today's riding to be greatly improved from yesterday's due to the cooler temperatures and maybe lighter rate of snowfall!  Overall it seems that approximately 60 cm. of storm snow fell over the weekend.  This overlays bare ground at lower elevations and on sunny or windy aspects, or up to 20 cm. of old snow higher up and on shaded or lee aspects.  We have not been finding any significant weakness within the storm snow, or where it meets the old snow.  The riding is deep, but the dirt is never far beneath your board(s).
