Buried, weak faceted snow remains a layer of concern in terrain above 8,500 feet. While the likelihood is possible, the consequences of being caught in an avalanche are severe. Avalanches involving these more deeply buried layers have the potential to be very large. Treat terrain with suspicion and consider the consequences before riding onto a slope. A report of a remotely triggered avalanche in the Greys River area yesterday speaks to the unpredictable and tenuous nature of this avalanche problem. See the Avalanche Event map for more detail.
