In sintesi

Recent snow accompanied by very strong Southwest to West winds have formed surface slabs at the upper elevations to three feet in depth. Back country riders or skiers could trigger these new slabs today in steep wind loaded terrain. The potential to trigger deeper slabs to six feet in depth on weak snow layers near the base of the snowpack also exists. At low elevations sustained warm temperatures with some rain has created the potential for areas of unstable snow.

Avalanche Discussion

A quick hitting storm system will bring light to occasional moderate snow overnight with many mountain locations receiving 3 to 6 inches of snow. Considerably colder air will follow this system with mountain highs on Friday in the low teens. Strong Southwest ridge crest winds this evening are to lessen and veer to the Northwest Friday morning. The General Avalanche Hazard will be CONSIDERABLE on Thursday. New snow and wind are expected to form surface slabs to a foot in depth on steep lee slopes at higher elevations. These slabs will form upon firm melt-freeze and wind blown surfaces and will be sensitive to human triggers. In some areas the potential continues for humans to trigger deep hard slabs that would carry severe consequences.
