Forecast Snow Stability: Old patches of snow will remain well bonded throughout this forecasted period. Initially all snow will be soft and wet but snow patches at higher elevations will become much firmer in the late afternoon. Greatest amounts will be found in wind sheltered features above 900 metres on North-East to South-East aspects. Many summits and ridges will be snow free. The avalanche hazard will be Low.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Freezing levels will be above the summit\'s for most of the day but falling late afternoon to around the higher summits. Light rainfall is expected throughout the morning and into the afternoon. Dry thereafter. Winds will be fresh to strong, South-West to West-South-West during the day. Observed Weather Influences: A dry day, often cloudy but otherwise bright and occasionally sunny. Mild, around 4 to 5 degrees on the tops. Moderate winds were mainly from the South-West. ObservedSnowStability: The remaining patchy snow is well consolidated. Greatest amounts are mostly on North-East to South-East aspects above 900 metres. The majority of the hills are snow free. The avalanche hazard is Low.
