East Slopes North

Clouds and cooling temperatures will keep the chances of avalanches to a minimum. You may see recent evidence of recent, loose avalanches. While it's good to keep an eye out for moist surfaces, these avalanches should be unlikely.

Incoming clouds and eventually moderating temperatures will limit the warming of southerly aspects. In the past week, small loose wet avalanches occurred on these same slopes. Otherwise, observers report generally stable conditions across most of the forecast area.

Far to the east, an observer near Mt Tiffany reported whumfing callapses and layering that could be problematic for avalanches with an additional load of snow. If you're in terrain with 3 feet or less of dry snow, take time to dig a snow pit. If you see obviously strong-over-weak layers and snowpack tests that fail suddenly, consider sticking to slopes under 35 degrees. 

It's been multiple days since any reported wind slab avalanche. There may have been some blowing snow from recent easterly wind. We have limited information at upper elevations, so we should make frequent observations and ease into new terrain slowly to account for uncertainty. 

On Friday, light precipitation could include moist snow or a wintry mix. With only a few inches of snow possible, we don't expect this to change the avalanche conditions dramatically.
