Mountain temperatures are starting out 5 to 10 degrees cooler than yesterday morning. As the day warms, very shallow wet loose sluffs involving the new snow could become possible on sunlit aspects in the mountains. If the underlying crusts begin to break down, start to transition to cooler terrain to avoid wet slides involving the older snow. In high elevation terrain where the snowpack has remained mostly dry, skiers and riders might still be able to trigger an isolated pocket of shallow wind slab in very steep couloirs and cliff areas. This hazard is likely to be more widespread in the cooler terrain above 10,500 feet. Up there, isolated pockets of newly developed shallow wind slab could also be a concern.

A dry westerly flow will bring lighter winds and warmer temperatures to western Wyoming. Skies will be mostly clear. Temperatures will fall into the teens and 20s tonight and rise into the 30s and 40s in the mountains and into the 50s in the valleys during the day. Winds will be southwesterly at 5 to 15 miles per hour.The general avalanche hazard is expected to be LOW below an elevation of 10,500 feet. The chance for small wet slides to occur in very steep sunlit aspects will increase as the day warms. Use caution as even small slides can be dangerous in very steep couloirs and cliff areas. Monitor conditions and avoid very steep slopes if crusts begin to lose their strength and integrity.
