In sintesi

Triggering an avalanche will be unlikely on Friday. Any avalanche activity will result in small slides in isolated pockets of terrain that harbor shallow wind deposits on lee slopes near and above treeline. As always, be aware of steep slopes and terrain traps that can increase the consequence of a small avalanche.

Most weather models are predicting a few inches of new snow coming in overnight and into Friday along with light winds out of the southwest, west and northwest. Based on the weather forecast, I do not expect significant wind slabs to build but we could see some shallow wind deposits in isolated pockets of terrain. If we get more snow than expected or if the wind picks up and we see consistent blowing snow, then wind slabs could become more of a problem.

Avalanche Discussion

No avalanche activity or signs of unstable snow have been reported in recent days.

Wind slabs formed earlier in the week have become nonreactive to triggering.
