Avalanche Activity

Wind slabs at high altitude. Wet snow at intermediate altitudes.

In gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and above approximately 1800 m slab avalanches are possible, but they will be mostly small. They can be released, mostly by large loads. As a consequence of warming during the day individual mostly small moist and wet avalanches are possible below approximately 1800 m. In addition ground avalanches are possible.

Snowpack Structure

The snowpack will be generally favourable. The soft wind slabs are to be found especially adjacent to ridgelines and in gullies and bowls. The weather will be mild. This situation will give rise to increasing consolidation of the snowpack. The weather conditions will give rise to rapid moistening of the snowpack in particular at intermediate altitudes.
